Frequently Asked Questions

How do I get involved?

Pre-Register: Ministries need to sign up to participate. Complete the registration form and mail it to PO Box 4486, Clearwater, FL 33758 by September 30, 2008. Keep in mind that the earlier you register the more lanes will be available. View list of current organizations involved.

How does it all work?

Teams will be assigned a bowling time for the day of the event. There are 8 on a team. You get sponsors to donate for every pin the team knocks down. The team will average a score of 100 each for a total of 800 pins, if each bowler gets a minimum 10 people to sponsor them at an average of $.10 cents per pin ($80.00). The amount raised will be $6,400.00 for one game of bowling.

Sponsors: “How do I ask someone to sponsor me and who will do it?”

Simply ask everyone that you know….(Here is where everyone participates, even the bowlers). Everyone likes to be a part of something big! Let the people know that Somebody Cares Tampa Bay is having a fundraising event to raise money for local charities and ask them to sponsor you or your organization as bowlers. Or simply say, “Will you sponsor me as a bowler for our compassion ministry?” “Will you sponsor my Pastor?” “Will you sponsor our “Compassion Ministry” Bowling team?” You will be surprised at the amount of people to say, “Yes, I’ll sponsor you. Email address books are a great way to solicit sponsors (Family, parents, siblings, cousins, friends, neighbors, students, your boss, staff, etc…)

Do I have to collect the money?

(YES) It’s as easy as collecting money for Girl Scout cookies. When you use your pin sponsor forms, you will be amazed at how quickly you will fill a sponsor sheet.

Who gets the donations from the sponsors?

Your organization keeps all monies raised from the pin sponsors to give to their designed charity.

How much can I raise?

There is no limit and most people will say, “YES! I’d love to help!” The more people you ask, the more money you raise to help your ministry.

How much should I ask for?

The choice of donations will be listed on the pin sponsor sheet. Keep in mind no donation is too small or large.
